This is where two peace treaties were signed between Florence and Siena, and where the ancient territory of Chianti came under the control of Florence with the legend of the black rooster. Walk along the ancient Roman road, Via Romea, to the exquisite hamlet of Fonterutoli, where you’ll encounter many relics of past life.

This historic path that connects Chianti to Siena holds great significance, and as you embark on this relaxing nature and history walk, you’ll come across more than just stories of the past. In celebration of a milestone birthday, guests were awarded access to an exclusive secret treehouse in the historic center of Florence for an elegant evening of fine dining under the majestic foliage of a weeping beech tree that towers over perfectly manicured gardens.

To begin the experience, guests were collected from their hotel by a fleet of private tuk-tuks and were chauffeured to the hilltop town of Fiesole which perches high above Florence. Guests arrived just before sunset to a waiting bottle of fine, chilled champagne, where they could enjoy every moment of the twinkling lights of the city of Florence below and gaze at the Renaissance capital’s mesmerizing skyline. 

Post aperitif, guests returned to their private transport for the main event: a 4-course dinner in a secluded treehouse tucked into the manicured gardens of a five-star hotel, in the very heart of Florence’s historic center. The dining table, nestled under the thick canopy of an old beech tree dating back to 1850, was set with a rich and wholesome meal of regional favorites. Soft, white candles filled the dining area, and fairy lights hung in the tree branches all around. A bespoke event expertly curated on behalf of the Vatican to celebrate the launch of the title Meditations on Vatican Art by Father Mark Haydu, LC, STL, the international coordinator of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums. Professor Antonio Paolucci, Director of the Vatican Museums, awarded guests with an artistic reflection on the new release, which features a series of Vatican masterpieces, contemplations, and prayer with selected works by masters including Michelangelo, Raphael, Caravaggio, Cano, and Pinturicchio.

Our chosen venue for this exclusive event was in a fifteenth-century palace in the heart of Florence’s historical city center, where guests sat amidst the rich decor of five centuries of history seamlessly interwoven with the finest modern comforts and conveniences.
