Ortigia Market & Tasting Experience

Your journey into Sicilian cuisine starts bright and early! First, over a delicious cup of coffee and maritozzo pastry, you’ll learn all about the importance of Sicily to Italy, and the connections between its recipes, history, and culture.

You’ll then wander through the island’s labyrinthine alleyways to the bustling historic food market. Here, you’ll be greeted by an explosion of colors, flavors, and fragrances, as you pass through its artfully arranged food stalls filled with spices, cakes, seafood, and seasonal produce. Your guide will introduce you to some of the fishmongers and food vendors, who’ll happily let you sample their seasonal produce that’ll include a dazzling selection of cured meats, cheese, and pasta products.  

After snacking on typical specialties, you’ll carry on to discover the many layers of Ortigia, visiting its fascinating landmarks, divine piazzas, and inspiring sea views. Along the way, you’ll drop by various shops and meet with other food artisans to sample some more Sicilian delicacies.

Your journey will be concluded with a glass of wine or gelato.
